Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan (Tamilசீகாழி/சீர்காழி ராமாமிருத ரங்கநாதன, ciyali rāmāmiruta rakanāta [?])  He is considered to be the father of library science, documentation and information science in India and is widely known throughout the rest of the world for his fundamental thinking in the field.
Karnataka State Government declared 12th of August as "LIBRARIANS DAY" in commemoration  of the memory of and invaluable services rendered by Dr.S.R.Ranganathan to Library and Information Science field in India. Our Association celebrates and conducts various professional activities on Dr.Ranganthan’s day.
